Windows XP preload-based computer will cause a Blue Screen error when the setting of the Config - Serial SATA option in BIOS Setup Utility is changed from AHCI default to Compatible. Stay the AHCI mode if your computer is Windows XP preloaded.
Microsoft. NET Framework 3.0 or later is required before installing this software on Windows XP.
If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Determining Which BIOS Version is Installed section.

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
Downloading file
Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save.
Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click Save. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.
Extracting file
Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in step 9.
Uncheck the checkbox next to Install. . now, and then click Finish to complete extraction.
Delete the file saved in the step 4.
Update or clean install for Windows 7/Vista
Click Start.
Right-click Computer, then click Properties. At the left pane, click Device Manager.
Double-click the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
Double-click either of the following devices.
Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller
Click the Driver tab, then click Update Driver Software
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Browse, then point to driver location specified in step 9.
Make sure the checkbox next to Include subfolders is checked and click Next.
Click Close when the installation has completed.
Click Yes to restart the computer.

Right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
At the left pane, click Device Manager.
Double-click Intel R Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI controller.
Click the Driver tab.
Check Driver Version.
